Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of targeted traffic to a web site from search engines via "organic” search results for particular keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results and the older the site, the higher it "ranks". This is especially so with Google who like to put new sites into the “Sandbox” (which means it won't appear in the search engine results pages).

If you use the same linking text too often, or build links too quickly, you can be penalised. Getting the balance right is extremely important.
